DJ Gary Welsh
My experience as a professional DJ began in 1975 at a Hazleton discotheque where the bartenders
earned more than I did. I guess you could say this is when "I started paying my dues" while
gaining experience. At that time my main concern was to earn a couple of bucks and having
a good time in the process. About six years later I was approached to do a friend's wedding, which was
quite unique because at that time bands had the market cornered. I reluctantly agreed and
used most of my home stereo equipment for the job. I soon discovered I was confronted with a
completely different cross-section of musical tastes and diversity than what I had been
accustomed to working in the same nightclub for years. Only a few people were dancing to songs
that normally packed the club's dance floor. I began thinking that this was a bad idea and I
was in for a long night. Soon people starting making requests for party songs from the 50's and
60's and to make a long story short, the bride and groom kept me 3 extra hours.
Since then I've provided DJ entertainment at hundreds of weddings and parties with great success.
I attribute that to a very important lesson I learned at that first wedding, play requests.
That sounds pretty simple but it takes quite a bit of preparation, expense and organization.
Many hours of work and years of experience are the foundation for building a successful
DJ Service. The preparation aspect alone not only requires great expense and years of experience
but putting good ideas to work as a result of that experience. For me it was easy because I
enjoy all types of music and my engineering background took me down the path of streamlining
the business into an efficient and well-organized operation.
My format experience is quite proficient in Oldies, Rock & Roll, Retro, Dance, Club and Country
music. My goal at every party is to entertain you with music that you enjoy dancing or listening
to. Check out our "Cost Estimator" by clicking on the "Prices" link to get an idea of what
